Skill assessments (VB-MAPP)

In general, a comprehensive assessment of the child's skills is conducted during the initial consultation. The instrument that is used for the assessment is called VB-MAPP (Verbal Behavior Milestones Assessment and Placement Program). This assessment will help to identify the current strengths and weaknesses of the child and to develop an appropriate behavior and learning program. The VB-MAPP is no diagnostic tool, which is used for diagnoses, such as autism, but it can help to receive a better overview of the current performance level and to the track the child’s progress.

To determine the developmentally progress assessments are conducted on a regular basis. These follow-up assessments help to track the progress in different skill areas and to modify and extend the child’s behavior and learning program. Based on these tests reports of progress will be written, which are usually requested by Tricare or Sozial- and Jugendämtern (for German families).
